Who holds power?
100 people in positions that can shape decisions across governments, money, technology and international institutions. The people are real; their documented offices are checkable. Their private influence is much harder to establish.
Documented authority, not a personal-power score
These 100 entries are a deliberately cross-sector reference selection, not a scientifically determined global top 100. The displayed numbers 001–100 are alphabetical identifiers, not a measure of relative power. A CEO, a president, and a central-bank governor exercise different kinds of authority that cannot be reliably collapsed into one percentage.
From title to actual decision mechanisms
Each entry now identifies a specific institutional decision domain and the constraints on acting. Selected offices include separate official explanations of formal powers. These are not claims about undisclosed personal networks or secret influence.
How to investigate inferred power
Formal authority is observable. Informal leverage is not directly measurable. These four dimensions help readers examine real decision channels without pretending they share a numerical unit.

How to read this directory
Our question is not “who is truly powerful?” which no public dataset can directly answer. It is “who currently occupies an identifiable position through which consequential decisions can be made, approved, blocked or coordinated?”
- Document the office. Names and publicly stated roles come from government, central-bank, institutional or company/industry leadership sources. The date on this page is a review snapshot, not a guarantee of future incumbency.
- Identify the channel. Executive authority, monetary policy, international coordination and corporate resource allocation are different mechanisms. They are not equivalent units.
- Describe constraints. Parliaments, boards, regulatory mandates, budgets, counterparties, courts, markets and coalitions can limit the actor. Office does not mean unilateral discretion.
- Do not extrapolate into hidden control. We have not measured informal networks, political loyalty, private access or secret arrangements. No score, rank or “percentage power” is asserted.
- Maintain openly. Offices change. Corrections and newly supported evidence can alter this set. Inclusion does not endorse any person's actions, policies or competence.
Scope note: This is a curated comparative directory, not a representative census of global influence. It substantially underrepresents cultural, civil-society and informal networks, and it includes many US-listed companies because public executive directories are readily verifiable. It should not be used to infer that unlisted people lack influence.
